BookMe

A scheduling and booking tool I built and host myself. Started as a Calendly replacement; it is now the thing my flat viewings actually run on.

Why I built it

I was paying a monthly subscription to hold a calendar link, and the data in it was not mine. For a tool whose whole job is to hand out a URL and accept bookings, that felt like renting something I could own.

The problem

Scheduling tools are a commodity with a subscription attached. The free tiers cap what you can do, the paid ones hold your booking history, and none of them can be pointed at your own domain without paying more.

What I was using before

Calendly. It worked, and that was the problem — it worked well enough to keep paying for, while being exactly the kind of dependency I wanted to remove.

What it does

  • A public booking page, no account needed to book
  • Double-booking prevented in the database, not the interface — the guarantee holds even when two people click at once
  • Busy-time rules that read my own calendars, so it never offers a slot I cannot take
  • Email confirmations and reminders, sent from my own server
  • An admin side behind MFA, and a lost-link recovery path

Where it is now

Live and in use at bookme.savvaskonstantinidis.gr. Built in phases and verified as it went. The one part worth flagging honestly: the outbound relay it sends mail through is a shared host, and getting its authentication right took longer than the app itself.

Who it might interest

Anyone who has ever paid for a scheduling tool and wondered what they were actually renting. It is also the clearest example I have of a self-hosted replacement that costs nothing to run and does not feel like a compromise.
